Exhibited at Salone Satellite, Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2013 in Milan, the concept of El Balcón came from the traditional and historical language of Puerto Rican balconies. In collaboration with students from the Escuela Internacional de Diseño y Arquitectura, the idea was to incorporate social and cultural traditions with natural local conditions and transform this researched knowledge into individual objects of design.

Due to Puerto Rico's location in the tropics and its warm weather year round, the use of a balcony is constantly taken advantage of. Its functions are to protect from direct sunlight and rain, to filter natural breeze, and to generate social or business meetings while serving as an observation point of the surrounding landscape.
